Dean Edward Pere, Sr.

Dean Edward Pere, Sr. of Houma, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, at the age of 93. He is preceded in death by his parents, the loving Henry Pere and Lurline Munson Pere, his brothers, Mickey and Neil Pere, his grandson, Dougie Blakemore, and his great-grandchild, Francis Bollman.

Dean graduated from LSU with degrees in Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering. He, his wife, and family lived in New Orleans, Franklin, and Ville Platte, Louisiana. He retired from Cabot Corporation and was a devoted member of the Sacred Heart Church in Ville Platte.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Eila Ann Prestenbach Pere, and children, Dean Pere, Jr. (Susan), Janine Foret, Lisa Oglesby (Candy), Andree Blakemore (Doug), Michael Pere, and Matthew Pere (Melissa), 15 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, Louisiana, 70006, on Friday, April 24, 2026, beginning at 12:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Mass in the Leitz-Eagan Chapel at 2:00 PM. Interment will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Ville Platte, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please keep Dean and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
