

DelRita O’Neill Reese, of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Jack Edward James Reese Sr., her daughter Heidi Reese Bienvenu (Lionel), son Jack Edward James Reese Jr., her grandchildren Bryce Bienvenu, Quinn Bienvenu and Matilda Reese, her brother, Richard O'Neill, and her sister-in-law, Jean O'Neill along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Leonard and Delphine G. O’Neill, her daughter-in-law, Kelly Frailing, a brother, David O'Neill and a sister-in-law, Gail O'Neill.
DelRita was a graduate of Annunciation High School. In her earlier years, she was an active member of St. Philip Neri Parish where she served as the president of the Ladies co-op and received the Order of St. Louis Medal. She also served on many committees at Archbishop Chapelle High School and Archbishop Rummel High School. She retired from Charity Hospital of New Orleans Trauma Unit.
DelRita loved to cook the best New Orleans dishes and have people over to enjoy great food and friendship. The New Year’s Day spread at the Reese’s house was legendary. She and Jack loved to take Heidi and Jay to camps on the lake at Little Woods when they were young kids. Later in life, she loved spending summers going across the Lake and to Orange Beach with her family and grandkids.
DelRita loved her grandkids, Matilda, Bryce, and Quinn more than anything. She enjoyed having everyone around and packing the house for the holidays. She and Jack were always busy and always going somewhere. They enjoyed their life together and there was never a dull moment!
Services for DelRita will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at St, Philip Neri Church, 6500 Kawanee Ave. in Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am followed by a Memorial Mass at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery no. 2 at a later date.
