Emily Michelle Bevolo

7 abril, 1994 – 14 enero, 2025
Obituario de Emily Michelle Bevolo
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home

Emily Michelle Bevolo passed away on January 14, 2025 at the age of 30. She was born on April 7, 1994 and from the moment that she came into this world, Emily was a little ball of energy that radiated joy, empathy, and kindness. During the three decades of her life, that positive energy permeated everything that she did and everyone she met.

Originally from Kenner Louisiana, she and her family lived in six different states, but they ultimately felt the call to return to the greater New Orleans area during her second year of high school. She attended Grace King Senior High School (2012) and the University of New Orleans (B.S. 2015 & M.Ed. 2018).

It was at UNO where she found a passion for Higher Education and the student journey. She was heavily involved during her undergraduate and graduate academic careers, wishing to soak up opportunities and experiences to better understand how to be the best ally for students. She incorporated and further honed this passion and experience once she graduated with her master’s and began working at Tulane University, where she held roles in various departments as Senior Academic Advisor and Retention Manager.

Whether you spoke to one of her family members, friends, coworkers, students, or peers, everyone said the same thing: Emily was truly amazing.

With how often she moved, and her ability to connect with people regardless of geographical boundary, she managed to create an incredible network of friends and family that was truly global.

She is preceded in death by her father, Michael S. Bevolo and her sister, Ashly E. Bevolo (Brandon). She is survived by her mother, Rhondalyn M. Boyd Bevolo and her brother, Taylor A. Bevolo (Christy). Her beloved cousin Lindsey Eubanks may as well have been her sister. She was an aunt to nephews Carter M. Bevolo, Cameron D. Bevolo, and Giovanni M. Cristadoro. She was a niece to aunts and uncles Bonnie Bevolo Bruza, Drew Bevolo, Sue Bevolo, Dan Bevolo, and Billy Boyd. She was a cousin to many more.

In lieu of flowers, her wish was that those who want to donate in her memory support the NMD United non-profit. Having had neuromuscular disability herself, Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2, she understood the importance of resource and community-building in a world where being an adult with NMD is often uncharted waters. She witnessed her peers ideate and build this organization and saw the continuous benefit that it provided to uplift adults with neuromuscular disabilities to increase independence and connection.
