Ester Elva Montero Silva

Ester Elva Montero Silva passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loving family on Thursday morning, April 16, 2015. She was 92 years old. Beloved wife of the late Guillermo Silva for over 60 years. Loving mother of Lilean Schenck (Mark), Mary McKinley, and the late William Silva (the late Carol). Grandmother of Andrea Meyer (Terry), Kymberlie Calogero (Steve), Mark Schenck Jr. (Emilie), Dennis McKinley Jr. (Mary Evelyn), Dion McKinley (Christina), Tracy McKinley (Karol), Kelley Schenck, and Billy Silva Jr. Great-grandmother of Bailee Taglauer, Brennan M. Schenck, Reece D. Gallo, Madison Meyer, Matthew L. Schenck, Brooke McKinley, Whitney McKinley, Nicole McKinley, Victoria McKinley, Keeley Meyer, Kade Michael McKinley, Eva R. Schenck, and Jackson P. McKinley. Sister of Isabel, Elsa, and Fernando. Daughter of the late Lisantro and Laura Biza Montero. Also survived by her loving niece Sonia Gonzales, and many other nieces and nephews. Ester was a native of Santiago, Chile, and resident of New Orleans area for the majority of her life. She retired from New Orleans Fairgrounds Racecourse after over 40 years of dedicated service, but more importantly, she devoted her life to loving and caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all whom she touched in her 92 years of life. The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to the loving staff of Concerned Care Hospice, and her loving caregiver, Cynthia Barnett. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial from LEITZ-EAGAN Metairie, on Friday morning, April 24, 2015 at 11:00. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00 until 9:00, and again on Friday morning from 8:00 until 11:00. Interment will follow in St. Louis Cemetery No. 3, New Orleans.
