He graduated from Redemptorist High School in 1946. After graduation he worked a few years in New Orleans at the National Screen Company before joining the United States Navy in 1951. He served during the Korean Conflict and was stationed at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. He was honorably discharged in 1955.
Felix attended Louisiana State University on the GI Bill. At LSU he met Carol Ann Cartier who was in her Junior Year. They were college sweethearts and married in his Junior Year. After he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Arts Education, he and Carol moved to River Ridge first and then later to Harahan, and both taught in the Jefferson Parish School System.
He received a Master of Education Degree from Loyola University.
He retired from teaching in 1977 and then worked for DH Holmes Department Store for a number of years before fully retiring.
