

Fredrick “Fred” J. Brinkmann; entered his heavenly home on March 14, 2021 at the age of 92. Survived by his wife, Joyce Vignes Brinkmann. They were married for 65 years. Preceded in death by; his parents, Emile John Brinkmann, Sr., and Viola Schneller Brinkmann; his sister, Elsie Turner, and his brother, Emile “E.J.” Brinkmann. Also survived by his nephews, James Turner and Jay, Eric and Carl Brinkmann. He was a graduate of Tulane University, with a degree in Civil Engineering and a member of Tau Beta Pi, Honor Society. Fred served his country in the U.S. Army, as a Korean Veteran and received Honorable Discharge. Employed by Avondale Shipyards for 36 years, where he was head of the Accuracy Control Department. He was recognized as a leader in designing the “roll over” method of ship building and oil rig construction. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he served on the Finance Committee, the Usher Society, and Treasurer of the Men’s Club. He was a member of AARP 4924 Heart of Metairie, a member of The Big Easy Fleur De Lis Parkinson’s Support Group, and a volunteer of JPAS. He was a “Mr. Fred” to all of the students of the Joyce Vignes Dance School and especially loved by Yvette, Deborah, Peggy and Tessie. He will be sadly missed by his “monthly” card players and Saturday Tile Players. His “smiling” face will be missed by all! Relatives and friends are invited to attend services at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie on Thursday, March 18, 2021. Visitation will start at 10AM, followed by a service in the Leitz-Eagan Chapel at 1PM. Interment will follow in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery No. 3, 1401 Louisa St., New Orleans, La., 70117. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church at a later date.
