

Freeman was born in Dupont, Louisiana on December 24, 1941, to Calvin J. And Rita (Jeansonne) Rosa. He grew up in Cottonport, Louisiana until late adolescence, when his family moved to New Orleans. He enlisted in the National Guard at age 18 and served for five years. On September 2, 1962, he married Julie Ann Schmitz in Metairie, Louisiana.
Freeman’s gift was working with his hands. He was a self-taught butcher. He worked most of his adult life as the Meat Market Manager for A&P supermarkets and the locally owned Langenstein’s Market. Freeman was a hardworking man whose top priority was to provide for his family. His greatest accomplishment was caring and providing for his family. For many years, he held two jobs so his wife could stay home with their children. Freeman’s greatest enjoyment was being outdoors. He was happiest when he was fishing, listening to his beloved country music, and painting. He was an amazingly talented artist whose works included oils, watercolors, and charcoal on canvas.
Freeman is survived by his daughter, Becky R. Prima, her husband, Gordon J. Prima of Tampa, Florida; his son Brian P. Rosa, Sr., and his wife Angella M. Rosa of Franklinton, Louisiana; seven grandchildren, Courtney F. Prima, Michele A. Prima, Sophia E. Prima, Brian P. Rosa, Jr., Cody P. Rosa, Christian P. Loup, and Julie A. Rosa; his sister, Shirley Rosa Jacob, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Rita Rosa, his wife Julie Ann Rosa, (Schmitz), his brothers and sisters Raymond Rosa, Elda Nezat, Frieda Edwards, Evans Rosa, and Cynthia Damron.
His burial will be held at Garden of Memories, Metairie, on May 17 at 10:00 am. Family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider offering up a Mass in his name.
