

Born to the union of Nanny Wilson and Henry Cox on August 22, 1925, she grew up in Monticello, Mississippi, with her five siblings, Cooper Cox, Pauline C. Lambert, James Cox, Dayton Cox, and Dempsey Cox, who along with her parents precede her in death. She came to Louisiana upon her marriage to Blanchard M. Kiern on March 24, 1948. She remained a faithful and devoted wife until his death on May 14, 1993. She was a long-time member of Rio Vista Baptist Church in Jefferson, Louisiana. An avid gardener, she always had a yard full of flowering plants during her active years. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
Those who will cherish her memory include her children, Bruce M. Kiern (Rosella) of Cookeville, TN; daughter, Gloria Janice Naquin (George) of Metairie; son, Paul B. Kiern (Lynn) of Madisonville, LA; grandchildren, Dana Kiern of Nashville, TN, Amy N. Johnson (Jeffrey) of Pineville, Erin K. Urbano of Cookeville, TN, Greg Naquin (Lindsey) of Metairie, Nathan Kiern and Tyler Kiern, both of Madisonville, LA; great grandchildren, Olivia Johnson, Lucy Naquin, Abby Naquin, Sophie Naquin, Isabel Urbano, and Isaiah Urbano; and an ‘adopted christian son’, Johnny Livingston.
The family would like to thank the staff of Canon Hospice for their compassionate care of Ms. Kiern.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Garden of Memorial Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 11:00 am, visitation beginning at 9:00 am officiated by Dr. Thomas Strong and Rev. Kolby DePratter. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests love offerings to Rio Vista Baptist Church 3800 Jefferson Hwy., Jefferson, LA 70121 in her memory.
