Gloria Chloe Simmons

Gloria Simmons passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2010, in Baton Rouge at the age of 90. She was a native and long-time resident of New Orleans and a lifelong member of St. Matthew United Church of Christ. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Harold; daughter, Sandra Simmons Ainsworth and husband Ollie; son, Harold L., Jr.; grandchildren Kelley Ainsworth Powell, Kevin Ainsworth and wife Paulette, Kurt Ainsworth and wife Angie, Eric Simmons and Michael Simmons. She is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Shirley Roberton and Carol Simmons, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Edna Brehm; one sister, Dolly Diaz; brothers Clarence, Jr. and Lynn Brehm; and her in-laws, Earle and Winnie Simmons. A special "thank-you" is extended to the staff of St. Clare Manor for their loving care. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 11:30 AM at GARDEN OF MEMORIES FUNERAL HOME, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
