Herbert Frederick Schneider Sr.

Herbert Frederick Schneider, Sr., a native New Orleanian, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, died Thursday, February 6, 2014, at age 82. Mr. Schneider attended Nicholls High School and was employed by Reilly Benton Insulation. Herbert was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and a life member of the VFW Post 8012. In addition to various carnival clubs, Herbert was a member of the Lion’s Club, and the Fun for All Couples Club.

Mr. Schneider was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Hadley Schneider, as well as his parents, Richard R. Schneider and Anna Siegfried Schneider, and nine brothers and sisters. Herbert is survived by his brother Robert Schneider; three children, Herbert F. Schneider, Jr. (Gwendolyn), Dr. Timothy W. Schneider (Lisa), and Patti Schneider Argueta (Cesar); eight grandchildren: Devin, Daniel, Andrew, Patrick, Nathan, Matthew, Susana, and Hadley; three step grandchildren: Kelley, Alexis and Emily; and two great grandchildren, Parker and Brinklie.

Herbert will be remembered for his giving spirit, loyal friendship, and dedication to serving others.

Visitation will be held at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, Airline Drive, Metairie, LA on Saturday, February 15th, from 10 – 11 a.m. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. followed by interment. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Joseph Hospice.
