Irene Dupree Wainwright

Devoted wife of James L. Wainwright, Sr. of 54 years.

Loving mother of James L. Wainwright, Jr. (Nancy) and the late Lisa Wainwright Bumgarner and mother-in-law of Del.

A proud grandmother of Jason, Toi, Cambre, Danna, Tabby, James III (Tre), Cheyenne, Amber and a great grandmother of 11 great grandchildren.

Daughter of the late Emma Sullivan Dupree and Robert Dupree. Sister of Ann D. Walton and Wayne Dupree (Gloria) and preceded in death were her sisters Evelyn Wood, Lucy Corbin and bothers Buck, Jim, L.T., and Tommy Dupree.

She is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Irene retired from the Jefferson Parish School Board where she served thousands of children as a Cafeteria Manager.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 1:00 pm. Visitation from 10:00 am until funeral time. Interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family would like to extend their appreciation for the care given to Irene by the staff of Guardian Angel Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Association, 2605 River Road, New Orleans, LA 70121.
