

John A. Cacioppo Sr. passed away peacefully on December 22, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 87 after a journey with Parkinson Disease. John lived a fulfilling and happy life in Metairie, LA.
He was born March 3, 1936, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Gasper and Francis Cacioppo. He was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School in 1956 then served 2 years in the United States Navy. He met and married Josephine Militello, a native of Independence, LA, his beloved wife of 44 years who preceded him in death. He spent the next 15 years in a loving relationship with Robben Fontane, a native of Bunkie, Louisiana. The two met amongst mutual friends and celebrated their 15th anniversary together this past month.
John was an authentic and dedicated family man. He and Josie raised their family together in Metairie, LA. John enjoyed a long and successful career in banking during which time he served at several institutions in the New Orleans area. He retired in 2001 to travel and cherish time with his grandchildren. He loved fishing, gardening, enjoying the outdoors, and eating good food with the people he loved. Many people were blessed to know and love John. Every person he met was treated and loved like family. For over 45 years each summer, John strengthened his Catholic faith by attending Manresa House of Retreats with group 21.
He was a proud father to four, grandfather to eight, and great-grandfather to two. He is survived by his partner Robben; his children Frank Menzato, Paula Mathews, Kim Noto, and John Cacioppo Jr.; his grandchildren Kasey Webb (Josh Webb) and Troy Mathews, Gavin and Brooke Menzato, Travis, and Klay Noto (Katie Philippi), Madison and Peyton Cacioppo; his great-grandchildren Julian and Josephine Webb. He is a Father-in-law to Cheryl Menzato, Ronnie Mathews, Bill Noto, and Stephanie Aloi. Additional family includes Jason and Angela Fontane. He is a brother to Joyce Sison, Raymond Cacioppo, James Cacioppo, Patricia Mocklin, Peter Cacioppo, and Paul Cacioppo. He was cherished by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 9-11 am, with mass beginning at 11 am. Following mass, interment will be held at Lake Lawn Cemetery.
