He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Jane Douglass Raynor, parents Willie Green Belk Raynor and Benjamin A. Raynor, and many of his and Sarah’s beloved Schnauzers.
He is survived by his brother Michael Bednarz (Veronica), nephew Brian Bednarz, niece Michelle Bednarz Beauchamp (Charles), and great nieces and nephew Erin Bednarz, Marie Beauchamp, and Anthony Beauchamp.
John worked as a claims specialist for CNA Insurance, specializing in architects, engineers, and construction liability. He had a very distinct voice and worked as a voice actor in several New Orleans area radio and television commercials. He also enjoyed his time working at KTIB.
His greatest joy was spending time with his beloved Sarah Jane, and he longed for their reunion after her passing. He was an Amateur Extra class ham radio operator and ELMER (call sign WB5PDZ), enjoyed playing guitar, and was an avid reader who enjoyed a wide variety of genres from scientific texts to spy novels. He loved being an uncle and a great uncle, and he treasured time spent with longtime friends Jamie Babin, Tunney Barrett, Dave Bogran, and Jerry Fairbanks. He will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, high intelligence, and for how loved he made his family and friends feel.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 from 6-9 p.m. at Rendezvous, 207 East Bayou Road, Thibodaux, LA.
