John Peter Vogt III was born on August 12, 1947 and passed away on January 27, 2021 at the age of 73. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan Vaccaro Vogt, and his four children, Aimee Vogt, Steven Vogt (Allison), Robin Vogt, and Lauren Vogt Stanga (Brent). He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Ashley Vogt, Madeline Vogt, Mackenzie Stanga, and Brent Stanga Jr. , his aunt, Thelma Rees, a brother, Tim Vogt (Sharon), his lifelong best friend, Philip Vaccaro (Melanie), as well as a host of nieces, a nephew, and cousins. John is preceded in death by his parents, John P. Vogt Jr. and Gladys Krass Vogt, and an uncle, Otto Rees.
John was a river pilot with the Crescent River Port Pilot’s Association for 27 years, retiring in 2005. John served in the United States Navy as a Quartermaster Second Class and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the Central City Lions Club. John’s first love was spending time with his family and his second love was feeding anyone and everyone. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Due to Covid restrictions, a private service will be held for family on February 5, 2021 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home. Internment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a charitable donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Association or the National Multiple Sclerosis Association.
