Louis Newman Collins Sr.

Louis Newman Collins, age 96, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2014. He was born in New Orleans, LA. and resided in River Ridge, LA for the last 52 years. He was the husband of Patricia W. Collins for 53 years before her death last year. He was the devoted father of Louis Newman Collins, Jr. and Keith Patrick Collins (Gina). Proud grandfather of Sophie, Carly, Luke, Jack, Grace, Seth and Drew Collins. He was the son of Lawrence N. Collins and Irene Royal Collins. He was a loving brother to Lawrence, E.J., and Jack Collins and Marie Davis. He graduated from Loyola University and was retired from Freeport Sulphur Company where he was the Administrator for the Engineering department for over 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII and the Korean War as a 1st Lieutenant. He loved fishing and hunting. He loved to travel. He loved to build things and grow things and stay busy around the house. Most of all he loved his family who will deeply miss him.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 12:00 pm.
