Louis Andrew Stein Jr.

Louis Andrew Stein Jr., of Metairie Louisiana, passed away on February 28, 2026 at 84 years of age. Louis was born in New Orleans Louisiana on October 31, 1941 to Yvonne and Louis Stein Sr. As a lifetime New Orleans area resident, Louis served in the Louisiana Air National Guard (Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Belle Chasse) from 1960 until his retirement as Chief Master Sergeant in 2001. In retirement, Louis converted his scuba diving hobby into a rewarding career as the scuba regulator technician for Harry's Dive Shop in Metairie. Married in 1984, Louis and Rosalyn built a life overflowing with family, friends, community, and adventure. Louis’ care and compassion for people was apparent to all.

Louis is survived by his spouse, Rosalyn Stein; his children Scott Stein, Gretchen Ducoing (Joseph), Ross Stein (Amanda), Terri Malone, Michael Malone, and Christopher Malone (Jessica); his grandchildren Raina Ducoing, Kayla Ducoing, John Ducoing, Michael Wilcox, Emily Wilson, Myles Stein, Chloe Morgan, Drake Morgan, Emily Morgan, Sal Malone, Malone Bordelon, Maxwell Bordelon, Catalina Malone, Clara Malone, and Benny Malone; and great-grandchildren Alyssa Wilcox, Tripp Wilcox, Ella Wilson, Abigail Wilson, and Trey Wilson. He is preceded in death by his parents Yvonne and Louis Stein and his daughter Jeannine Wilson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home in Metairie from 1pm to 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Interment with military honors in Southeast LA Veterans Cemetery will take place at a later date.
