Mae Edith Smith Spinner passed away peacefully at age 94 on May 24, 2018, ten years after being diagnosed with dementia. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, James “Bill” Spinner, Sr. whom she loved dearly. She leaves her two devoted children Cheryl Spinner Medina (Jorge Medina) and James W. “Billy” Spinner, Jr. (Yvette Thevenot Spinner) with tears, smiles, and wonderful memories. She was making jokes and dancing to music with her family up until the end. “Mae Mae” was proud of her three loving grandsons, Tyler Spinner, Trevor Spinner, and Joshua Medina. Mae worked for the United States Department of the Interior-Geological Survey, where she was the recipient of a Service Award in 1978. She always had a passion for dancing, and was named Outstanding Member in 1973 of the Togam Dance Club. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at 11am at Leitz-Eagan in Metairie with visitation beginning at 10am. Interment will be held after the ceremony at Garden of Memories on Airline Hwy. Reception to follow at the home of Bill Spinner, Sr.
