

It is with great sadness that the family of Malcolm Paul Fontenette, age 71, announces his passing on May 27th 2016 in Gulfport, Mississippi. Mr. Fontenette will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years Paulette Imphang Fontenette, his two children Elizabeth Chevalier, and Scott Fontenette, and five grandchildren, Nathan Chevalier, Alexandra Chevalier, Zachary Chevalier, Lily Fontenette and Tyler Fontenette. He also will be lovingly remembered by his sister Clara Adams, his brother Steve Fontenette, father-in-law Alexander Imphang, son-in-law Ezebe Chevalier, and daughter-in-law Christina Jones Fontenette. He is the son of the late Hypolite “Pete” Fontenette and the late Mary Landry Fontenette and brother of the late Michael Fontenette. Mr. Fontenette is a veteran of the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart award. He was born and grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana where he graduated from Redemptorist HS in the Irish Channel and Delgado Community College. He worked over 40 years in the ship building industry working as Safety Director for Avondale, Halter Marine/Trinity Industries, Bollinger, and Edison Chouest Shipyards over that span. In his spare time Malcolm enjoyed collecting antique cars and attending antique cars shows, watching his grandchildren play sports, vacationing with his wife and fishing at his Lake House. He also enjoyed building model boats and train sets. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 2:30 pm on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, 812 General Pershing St., New Orleans, LA with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm.
