Matilde Rosales

The Funeral Service and Mass will be held at 10:00 am at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, 1404 Erato St. in New Orleans. Father Teodoro Agudo, of St. Theresa of Avila will be officiating. Visitation will be held at 9: 00 am at St. Theresa of Avila. Burial service will follow the funeral at Lake Lawn Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home.

Matilde Rosales was born in Puerto Cortes, Honduras on January 29, 1928.

Matilde was a co-owner of Suyapa Inc., an accounting and bookkeeping firm. She was also active member of the Honduran American Emergency Fund, the Association of the Honduran Committee of the Virgin of Suyapa and an alumna of SEPI.

She was a long time active member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church where she was also a catechism teacher. Matilde was honored by the Archbishop with the medal of St. Louis.

Matilde is survived by her sister Blanca Rosa Rosales Abella de Carbajal (husband Abraham, Sr.) and family, and her sister-in-law Bertha Alicia Banega de Rosales and family, as well as many adored nieces and nephews.

Matilde is preceded in death by her parents Lisandro Rosales Martinez and Sinta Abella Pejuan de Rosales, her sister Cristina Isabel Rosales Abella de Blanco (husband Antonio), and her brothers Carlos Melendez Abella (wife Rosa), Lisandro Rosales Abella (wife Margarita), Joaquin Patricio Rosales Abella (wife Carmen), Rodolfo Rosales Abella (wife Olivia), Marco Antonio Rosales Abella, Guillermo Rosales, and Cesar Rosales.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to St. Theresa Avila Catholic Church.
