Maxine Joffrion Wilenzick was born in Lecompte, LA on September 7th, 1916. We lost our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on March 15, 2011. Maxine was full of vitality and wisdom. Her joie de vivre was most infectious, making her the life of the party. Loving daughter of the late Hampton Percy Joffrion and Theresa Mann Joffrion, Maxine graduated from Louisiana State University, where she was a member of Sigma Delta Tau sorority and of the L.S.U. newspaper staff. In addition, she became the first president of the Friends of the LSU Libraries. After graduating from LSU, Maxine married the late Joseph Wilenzick and moved to New Orleans, where she was an active member of the Temple Sinai Sisterhood. Maxine is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Wilenzick Levy and Carolyn’s husband, Adolph J. Levy, and by her granddaughter Elizabeth Levy-Kleinveld, and Elizabeth’s husband Ronald P. Kleinveld and by her great-grandchildren, Steven and Isabelle Kleinveld.
