Another day has gone by and I still miss seeing my friend at the coffee pot every morning.  He was such a light to the hospital.  

I have just learned of Dr. Kalliny's passing, and oh how my heart breaks. He was such a bright, confident spirit whose passion was contagious. He is an integral part of my career choice and development. I will never forget him. What a loss to the world.  God be with your family. 

I just learned of my great loss of my favorite physician. He carried me through the darkest era of my life and helped me to see what was wrong. I’m forever grateful and so much better because he took the time to listen and to care. 
I’m going to miss him dearly.

Although I was not able to train under you since I started in July 2021, I remember my promise to you when you allowed me to come to Meharry for Preventative Medicine Residency in Feb 2021. I will make you proud of the decision to bring me to Meharry. Thank you for believing in me and my potential. God bless your soul and rest in peace as you should!

Today we held a moment of silence in memory of Dr. Kalliny during our medical staff quality oversight committee meeting.  

He will be remembered as a kind, generous and thoughtful colleague who was perpetually cheerful and approachable.  We were lucky to have been graced by his presence, his leadership and his devotion to his patients and residents.

My heart goes out to you and your family.  May you find peace and comfort.  He definitely left an impression here at the Hospital and was truly a kind soul that loved Him some 11th floor coffee :)  He will be greatly missed.

We lost a great asset. He was my mentor and one day I asked him what make you so passion to help others. 
He responded " I loved my mom, and she wants me to help others" 
I noticed tear in the corner of his eyes. 
Now he is with his mom in heaven. Rest in peace.


 

I am so so sad ... just hearing about this.  I always seen him once a month.. he was always so happy to see me and loved it when I brought my daughter with me .. this is so hard to hear and imagine another beautiful loving person is gone... I am praying for his family.  I will truly miss this dr and I can’t say that about any other dr. He loved everyone and loved to help ... I’m so so sorry to hear about this....

My father died two months ago at age of 87 and I have accepted his death, but I am having a hard time to believe that Dr. Kalliny actually died. He was a good man who worked tirelessly to help others, but never lived for himself. He care for everyone’s success, treated every patients like his family and goes above and beyond to help his students, residents, colleagues. Most of us who know him closely appreciate his dedication for our success. I am truly sorry for his death and deeply saddened that we lost what a great man. My prayer goes out to his family and may god rest his soul in peace! 
For sure he will be missed and remembered forever by many of us!





Dr Kalliny was the best mentor, program director, guardian, that I have ever had. We are so fortunate to have been trained her his tutelage. He was compassionate, caring, kind, respectful towards his peers, juniors and patients alike. Meharry and medicine has lost a great doctor. We adore and respect you Dr Kalliny, and the only way I know how to pay my respect to you is by achieving even more, and going above and beyond for my patients and providing them with excellent care. Thank you for being a role model.

Dr. Medhat Kalliny was an exceptional and generous professional and person.

Over the last five years, we worked together on providing access to care for vulnerable population within the context of cultural competency when training residents.

The implementation of the rural training track in the Mississippi Delta, the establishment of the maternal health course in the Division of Preventive Medicine, the opioid focus and the MAT Clinic in the department of Family and Community Medicine and 
his inspiration are legacies of his generosity of his time and willingness to work in a space that was difficult, but needed.

His contributions are immeasurable.  The inspiration he left with each of us, including our feelings of loss, will endure forever.

We thank you, his family, for sharing him with us.  Collectively we will miss him.  He will not be forgotten.

Dr. Kalliny was a good, kind hearted man. He had a hand in changing so many lives for the better and will be greatly missed by many. He went above and beyond for a patient I know personally, and I will be forever grateful to him for what he did. 

I offer sincere condolences to the Kalliny  family. Dr. Kalliny was a hard-working, dedicated and compassionate physician. Meharry has truly lost a noble soul. He had a kind and happy demeanor that is not as easy to find in physicians nor in every day human beings. I am grateful for the time that I knew Dr Kalliny and he will be missed. Dr Kalillny, was blessed man and believer! He will be missed!

Words seldom cooperate in times such as these but are especially tough to find with a loss so profound. Dr. Kalliny was as humble and kind as he was accomplished and hard working. A gifted healer and selfless teacher who always prioritized his patients, learners at all levels and from all disciplines and his duties and did not falter in his commitments. A beloved and well-respected beacon of positivity, compassion, and enthusiastic dedication; he was a natural leader whose words and actions consistently highlighted his faith and love for medicine and people. He treated everyone he met with dignity and respect and never hesitated to lend a helping hand and he did it all with a gentle smile and kind words without expecting anything in return. He is already sorely missed. My deepest condolences to his family and may they be blessed with peace, strength and grace in this difficult time.

I am so very sorry for your loss my prayers and thoughts are with his family and friends. He was my doctor at SPEROS in Smyrna for several months. He was a wonderful man he helped me in so many ways and I am very honored to have met him and for him to have been my doctor.

It was always a pleasure to work with Dr. Kalliny.  He was always willing to help, and exemplified care and compassion for his patients.  Condolences to his family and all who will miss him.

The untimely demise of this remarkable human being is most unfortunate.
