Our father Merial “Ike” Robert Eichhorn, aged 93, peacefully departed this life on Monday, May 5, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on November 26, 1931, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Ike was a devoted husband, cherished father, loving grandfather, and a friend to all who had the pleasure of meeting him.
Ike was preceded in death by his beloved and beautiful wife, Gerry Badeaux Eichhorn, and his parents, Peter Robert Eichhorn and Ethel Sullivan Eichhorn. He is survived by his four children: Bobby Eichhorn (Michele), Chris Eichhorn (Jill), Merialee Eichhorn Graver (Todd), and Allyson Eichhorn. His legacy also lives on through his eight beautiful grandchildren: Lindsey, Robbie, Blake, Chad, Macy, Maris, Seth-Patrick, Mahlie, and four great grandchildren.
Ike and Gerry were parishioners at St. Christopher the Martyr Catholic Church. Throughout his life, Ike was known as a giver. Whether it was through his generous spirit or his welcoming nature, he never met a stranger. He loved to engage in lively conversations, sharing stories filled with wisdom and humor that captivated everyone around him. His warmth and kindness extended beyond just family, making every person he met feel valued and appreciated.
Ike had a fulfilling career as a salesman in the drycleaning business and later was proud to have owned Allyson’s Supply, where he created lasting connections with his customers and employees alike. He took great pride in his work, always striving to lend a helping hand to those in need.
In addition to his many roles as a father and grandfather, Ike had a passion for baseball (from coaching his kids to watching college and MLB games), which brought him immense joy and allowed him to share his love for life with others. He often enjoyed family gatherings, which were highlights of his year and opportunities to pass down his cherished stories and values.
Friends and family are invited to join in honoring a man who touched so many lives and left a profound legacy of love and generosity. A celebration of Ike’s remarkable life will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie, LA 70006. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass. Interment will be private with the immediate family only at a later date.
Rest in peace, dear Ike. Your love and kindness remain with us always.
