A real loss. I worked with Ray at Hibernia/Capital One and when we had to talk it was usually because of some IT problem in the middle of the night. Normally this would be an unplesant situation but it was always fun talking with Ray. We would always have a few laughs and fix whatever problem was at hand. Always a pleasure. God speed!

Ray was a dear friend at OLDP, Rummel and for several years thereafter. Although we lost contact, I often thought of him and his kind sisters. His infectious good humor and wit will always be a part of me. My thoughts and prayers will always be with Ray and the Berni family.

Ray was not only a dear friend but more like family to me. He never met a stranger and will continue to be a shining, bright star lighting up the world for all of us. My heart, love and prayers are with his girls-Kathy, Erin & Erica (and his close friend and my mom, Patricia).  I only wish I lived closer to be there with y'all!You know he has to have the Lord in stitches right now with his vibrant and hiliarious personality! Miss you, Ray!

Ray was a special person at church.  He loved to sing in the choir and help with various projects.  He will truly be missed by all.  He is in a much better place now, where we will all meet again some day.  Knowing Ray. I feel certain that he is in heaven now with the Lord; perhaps singing in the heavemly choir, praising the Lord for the rest of time.  I know that where he is, is a beautiful, peaceful place, where the only light is from Jesus Himself.  It a tranquil place with golden roads and peace.  May the Lord comfort his family in their mourning.

What wonderful memories I have of the Berni Family. I worked with Marcelle at First Metropolitan Bank for many years and I practially lived at her house. The only times I ever saw him
   was around his family
      and around his family he was his best
   he was pure Ray
       nothing but everything he wanted to be most
   a focal point
       an envelope of good and funny
On summer visits I hoped that
   he would be a part of the adventure
      because he both brought the fireworks
          and were them
   he was Uncle Ray the jubilant
       the guy that made me laugh ‘till I fell over every time
   he was one of God's anomalies
       never intended for mass production
           someone too lovely and odd to ever be typical
   he made the room glow 
       with an effortless comedy
           and effortless love
He was Ray 
   with the speech we all wished we were blessed with
       and a wit that will echo through all who knew him

When I last saw Ray 
   he was the sugar
       the cherry on top of an unfortunately rare visit
   I cooked him ribs
       he brought the pralines and mouth
          unchanged from my memory
That is where he will remain in me
   the Ray that was everything he wanted to be and nothing but
       the guy who made me laugh ‘till I fell over every time
          the presence no one could ignore

As so many have indicated already, Mr. Ray truly lived up to his name -- he was a Ray of Sunshine.  I looked forward to holidays, or blowouts on Chris' truck, or just a visit from Mr. Ray and his family as just his voice alone brought smiles to all of our faces.  He was one of the first at the hospital for any birth and/or injury, and to the house for any celebration.  He and Ms. Kathy created and raised two of the most beautiful genuine girls in the whole world, one of whom I am lucky enough to be able to call my sister in law soon, who both emulate his spirit.  Mr. Ray has touched me, my entire family, and especially my brother in a way I will forever be grateful to him.  Mr. Ray will forever be missed, loved, and appreciated. I am stunned and in the disbelief stage of grief. For a long I have been trying to get in touch again with Ray without success. He was one of my closest and dearest friends, but time and geography let this precious friendship slip through the cracks as we stayed in touch less and less. I will never forget the hours and hours of laughter that we shared as kids and as young adults. I credit Ray with teaching me to always find something humorous in any situation. I could go on forever, but what comes to mind immediately is a Florida vacation we took that was rained out for the entire trip. I don't think I have laughed non-stop as much as we did that weekend. I know we'll meet again.
