Raymond Joseph Dunbar, born on August 5, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on June 21, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Marlene LeBlanc Dunbar, and a daughter, Raquel Marie Dunbar (Christopher Moan), a sister, Lolamae Dunbar Brown, and a brother, Herbert Dunbar.
He worked with the United States Agency for International Development, Washington DC. where he was the Executive Officer (EXO) for 28 years. His career took him to all over the world, from Central America (Paraguay), the Caribbean (Jamaica), and lastly to Africa where he served in posts in Ghana, Uganda, Lesotho, Kenya, and South Africa. He retired in 2002 and spent time traveling with his wife until he was medically not able to do so anymore.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Metairie, LA. Visitation will be held from 11 AM-1 PM with a service to begin at 1 PM.
