

Renfro Alton Pittman, age 84, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2012. Mr. Pittman was born on May 31, 1927 in Earle, Arkansas and was a resident of Metairie, LA for 48 years. He was a graduate of the Maritime Academy in St. Petersburg, Florida. He served under the U.S. Coast Guard and War Shipping Administration in all theaters of war during World War II. Later Mr. Pittman served in the U.S. Navy. After discharge he was in the Maritime Industry until retirement. He married his childhood sweetheart and has two sons. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy B. Pittman of 61 years; sons, Terry Michael Pittman (Joyce) and Kenneth Alton Pittman (Jan); three grandchildren, Jennifer, Douglas and Alex; four great grandchildren, Mathew, Elizabeth, Parker and Eloise; nieces and nephews, Carol, Marion, Marieé, Tottie, Danny, Bill, Linda and Mike and many great nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Pittman was Past Master in 1981 of Metairie Lodge #444 in Metairie, LA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Friday morning, February 24, 2012 beginning at 10:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel.
