Robert Maynard Carpenter

Robert Carpenter entered his eternal home on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. Beloved husband of Beth Carpenter for 54 years, loving father to Rachel and Ray Harney, Jocelyn and Keith Carpenter, dear grandfather to Chloe, Raymond and Chester Harney; Grace, Faith and John Robert Carpenter. Son of Margaret Carpenter and brother of Judy and Richard Schultz. He was preceded in death by his father, Maynard Carpenter. Robert faithfully served the Lutheran Church throughout his life. His entire life was a witness to his faith. He had the heart of a servant in his dealings with the children and adults he was privileged to serve. He touched the lives of many teachers and students throughout his ministry as a teacher, organist, choir director and principal. He was strongly committed to Lutheran education at all levels, and tenured on the Board of Control at Concordia University, Chicago. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at Zion Lutheran Church, 1924 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Monday morning, March 24, 2014 at 10:00 AM.
