Robert "Robbie" D. Leto unexpectedly passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024, at the young age of 61. Robbie was doing what he loved to do, bowling with his friends at Colonial Bowling Lanes. Robbie was born September 30, 1962.
He is survived by his beloved son, Corey Leto; his adored mother, Virginia (Jenny) McGathy; his life partner of 11 1/2 years, Charleen Sonnier; his aunt, Annette Byrnes; his uncle, Robert (Boo Boo) Byrnes and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert McGathy, and his grandparents, Robert and Letha Byrnes and Mary and Christopher Leto.
Robbie was a loyal employee of Southwest Airlines for 35 years, from October of 1989 until the time of his passing. He was an avid bowler since an early age and remained so all of his life. He was a member of Colonial Classics and Patio Mixed Bowling League, and truly enjoyed horse-racing as well.
Robbie had the most beautiful heart! He was definitely one of the most caring and loving people you could ever meet. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, without any question. He always had jokes with a huge infectious smile.
He will be deeply missed by family, friends, employees of Southwest Airlines and the bowling community.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie, Louisiana followed by a Catholic blessing. Per Robbie's wishes, he will be laid to rest next to his Dad in Restlawn Park Cemetery, 3540 Hwy. 90 in Avondale, LA.
