
Robert Allen Levy, age 60, passed away peacefully November 27, 2010. He was born and raised in Atlanta, GA, and graduated from Tulane University in 1972, where he played on the Tulane football team. Robert pursued a career in the scrap metal industry after graduation. He was the owner of Columbia Steel and Metal in Columbia, SC, and was active in various trade and charitable organizations until 2000. Robert always loved New Orleans and upon retirement moved back to pursue a new career in horse racing. His passions included fine dining, sports, and the culture the city offers.
He was kind, generous, compassionate and caring. Loyalty to family and friends always came first.
Son of Dorothy Axelrod Levy, Atlanta, GA, and the late Fred Levy, survivors include: devoted companion Susan D. Morris, New Orleans, LA, sister Marilyn and husband Howard Perling, Atlanta, GA, brother Art and wife Barb Levy, Columbia, SC, niece Adrienne Levy, Charleston, SC, and nephews Alex and Andrew Levy, Columbia, SC, Susan’s mother Caroline F. Morris, sister Anne Morris, Columbia, SC, brother Will L. Morris wife Karen M. Morris, nephew Bryan D. Morris and niece Caroline E. Morris, Orlando, FL, several aunts, many cousins and relatives, and man’s best friend Jazz. Graveside Services will be held at Hebrew Rest #3, 2003 Pelopidas and Frenchman, on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at 3:30 pm with Rabbi Alexis Berk officiating.
