Robert Francis Murphy Jr.

Robert Francis Murphy Jr. passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, September 13, 2015. He was 73 years old. Loving father of Tony Murphy (Maribeth), Kelly Eyster (Paul), Maralien Orantes (Ed), Gina Latour (Kenny), Gary Swain (Kathy), and Monica Chiappetti (Chuck). Grandfather of Michael Murphy, Megan Murphy, Madison Murphy, Hannah Eyster, Hillary Eyster, Mason Orantes, Mya Orantes, Sydney Latour, Kenny Latour, Danielle Swain, and Nick Swain. Brother of the late Barbara Murphy. Son of the late Robert and Mary Zimmerman Murphy. Bob was a native and lifelong resident of New Orleans, graduating from Holy Cross in 1959, and attended LSU. He proudly served his country in the United States Marines. He was a member Irish Channel Marching Club, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and New Orleans Track Club, the Heavy Rollers, and the Spotee’s. Bob was a proud Irishman and New Orleanian, and certainly never missed a Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest or an LSU game. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass from LEITZ-EAGAN Metairie on Thursday afternoon, September 17, 2015 at 1:00. Visitation will begin at 11:00 in the morning.
