

Ruby Felix, age 88 passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 6, 2025. Ruby was born on September 7, 1937, in Alexandria, Louisiana to parents Alex and Julia White. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Georgia Hulbert and Alexis Howard. Ruby attended Peabody High School and was a proud graduate of Grambling State University.
Her hands were rarely still as she was always busy, taking care of family and being a support to her friends. She also shared her love of food by preparing traditional Louisiana favorites like gumbo. Ruby developed a love for golf and became a member of The Wake-Robin Golf Club, the oldest African American women's golf club in the U.S., founded in Washington, D.C. in 1937. She looked forward to playing a round of golf as often as possible.
For many years, Ruby worked as an elementary school teacher in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a driven and passionate educator ready to help others and believed education was a key to many opportunities in life.
Ruby is survived by her husband Leon, her three daughters, one grandchild, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
All of those she loved and touched deeply, please join us in Celebrating her Life Friday morning December 12, 2025 at 10:30am at St Mark’s the Evangelist Catholic Church, located at 9724 Cross Creek Blvd., Tampa, FL 33647. Interment will follow on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 11:00 am at Providence Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 8200 Airline Hwy, Metairie, LA 70003.
