Ruby was a beautiful person inside and out, whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. Fondly known in her neighborhood as the “Iceberg Lady,” she was beloved by children of all ages and brought joy wherever she went. Her son-in-law, T.A., affectionately called her “Ruby 2 Shoes,” as she was always on the move—whether running to bingo, the casino, or simply lighting up a room with her presence.
Her greatest pride and joy was her family. Ruby is survived by her daughters, Kathy Soleto Russell (Thomas A. Russell “T.A.”) and Phyllis Soleto; three grandchildren, Angela, Joe, and Brandi; eight great-grandchildren, Giselle, Gabrielle, Guliana, Gemma, Nathan, Sadie, Amelia, and Maddex; and one great-great-grandchild, Liana Kramer. Each will forever cherish her memory and the love she so freely gave.
Ruby is reunited in eternal rest with her husband, Joe Soleto; her parents, Louis Richoux and Aggie Bellanger; her sons, Ralph Soleto and Salvador (Sammy) Soleto; and her siblings Doris Dufrene, Ida Mae Autin, Jimmy Richoux, Edward Robichaux, Raymond Richoux, Lillian Leboeuf, and Mary Ann Trahan.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home in Metairie, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 1:00 PM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
Ruby will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her spirit, her laughter, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
