

Salvador J. Balsamo, Sr., passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2015 in Jefferson, LA. He was 86. Salvador was born on August 30, 1929 in New Orleans, LA to the late Dominick Balsamo and the late Lena Governale Balsamo. Sal leaves his wife of 50 years, Louella F. Balsamo and a son, Sal J. Balsamo, Jr. (wife, Tina). His son, Michael Balsamo preceded him in death. Sal is also survived by his two brothers, John Balsamo (wife, Lynn) and Robert “Bobby” F. Balsamo (wife, Patsy), his sister, Betty B. Pfleeger (husband, the late August) and a host of nieces and nephews. Salvador was in the National Guard in the 1950’s and was honorably discharged after 5 years of service. He was employed by the William. B. Reily Company for 47 ½ years, working at the Blue Plate Food Plant and Luzianne Coffee Plant. He loved traveling and took his family camping. He enjoyed life and his family and friends will surely miss him. Sal is also a member of the Wellness Center and a parishioner of St. Ann Church. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 beginning at 10:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 1:00 PM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel.
