Sheila E. (Bailey) Russell

Sheila Elizabeth Bailey Russell passed away peacefully on February 21, 2024, in the arms of her husband. She was born on July 8, 1944, in Mobile, AL to her parents Audys & Plummer Bailey. Sheila was a loving and extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her siblings: Margie Kirkman, Jack, Tommy, Pat, and Mike Bailey. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 60 years Eugene (Gene) Russell. Sheila graduated from Murphy High School located in Mobile, AL in 1962. After graduation, she started her long career of 30 years with AT&T, formerly known as South Central Bell, and retired in management. After retirement, she and her husband began traveling like they always talked about. Sheila was known for her fondness of the Beach, Traveling, and Mardi Gras. She was an incredibly loving Nana to her three Grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memories are her two children Denise, (Kevin) and Renee. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her grandchildren Korey, Kaley, and Devin and numerous great-grandchildren. Sheila’s love for her grandchildren propelled her forward, which undoubtedly contributed to her long fulfilling life. She taught us never to be afraid of the world and always believe in yourself. The rock of our family may be gone, but she will never be forgotten. Her memory and legacy will live in our hearts, our minds, and in our souls. I know she will continue to guide us all as we continue on our own life’s journey. Nana, you will be deeply missed. We love you.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to celebrate her life on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Leitz Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006.
