Stanley James Jones

Stanley James Jones, age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2017. Stanley was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Marie Virginia “Ginny” Juge Jones, in 2015. The couple met and fell in love dancing aboard The President riverboat. Loving father of Jennifer Jones Meleen (John), Jeffrey J. Jones (Carol), Julie Jones Wisecarver and Jonathan P. Jones (Angela). Stanley leaves behind 5 granddaughters (Kate, Jeanette, Jessica, Elise and Alison); 6 grandsons (Earl, Jeffrey Jr., Justin, Christopher, Sean and Peyton); and 6 great grandchildren to cherish his memory. Stanley was born on June 16, 1927 in New Orleans to the late Alix Poche Jones and Albert Jones. Brother of the late Louis Jones, George Jones, Burton Jones and Georgina Jones. Stanley proudly served in the Navy at the end of World War II. He worked as a technician at Western Electric until his retirement after three decades. He enjoyed playing golf and could repair almost anything. Stanley served as an usher at Our Lady of Divine Providence Roman Catholic Church for 40 years. He will be sadly missed by all.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, on Friday, November 3, 2017, from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. A Funeral Mass in the Chapel will follow at 1:00 pm with the burial to immediately follow at Lake Lawn Park and Mausoleum.
