Sylvan Antin

Sylvan “Buddy” Antin, age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Doris Horn Antin. Loving father of Renee Antin Simoneaux. Survived by his grandson, his pride, joy and everything, Troy Simoneaux, Jr. Son of the late Harry and Mary Singer Antin. Brother of Dr. Sidney Antin (the late Janice Antin) and Doris Antin Esko (Irwin Esko); brother in-law of the late Harry Horn, Yetta McKee, Bernard Horn and Sylvia Horn. Uncle of Judy Lachoff, Steve Esko, Robert Antin, Jane Esko Britton, Jonathan Antin, Jerry McKee, Barbara and Jackie Horn and the late Scott McKee. Buddy also leaves behind his best friends Pat Drumm and Eddie Becker. Sylvan was a WWII Army Veteran who proudly served his country. He was a teletypewriter operator who held a secret government clearance and was entrusted with the job of decoding messages and was also a counterintelligence investigator in the Army. During his five years of service he earned many decorations including the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorius Unit Award with one Star Victory Ribbon and two Overseas Service Bars. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him, including his granddogs Noodles and Lady.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 10:00am. Visitation from 9:00am until time of service. Interment in Southeast LA Veterans Cemetery in Slidell.
