Tekara Niché Gaines

Tekara Gaines age 42, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. Tekara was born in New Orleans to Wanda and Perry Gaines Sr. on December 8, 1979. She was a devoted mother to Warren Stewart lll, Mark Garrison IV, and Ma'shaad Gaines. She attended Warren Easton Fundamental Senior High School. She graduated from Eastern College of Health Vocations with her medical assistant certification. She was employed by the Health Care Center of New Orleans. She was baptized at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans. Tekara was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Margaret Miguel and Joseph and Adele Gaines; and her aunts, Dianza Miguel and Marilyn Greenberry. Tekara is survived by companion Mark Garrison III and her siblings Treshawn and Perry Gaines Jr.; aunt of Christian, Trinidy, Perry III and Amyrie Gaines; niece to Diane, John, and Danny (Kim) Miguel; Joseph (Wanda) Gaines, Barbara (Willie) Hicks, Bevelyn (Joe) Frank. Also survived by a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends. Employees of New Orleans Health Care Center, Livingston International, Archdiocese of New Orleans, Criminal District Court of New Orleans, Reinhart Food Service, Catapult Learning, friends and family are invited to the services. A celebration service honoring the life and legacy of the late Tekara Gaines will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, on Friday April 22, 2022. Visitation will begin at 9:00 in the morning with the home going celebration starting at 10:30 am. Officiating Bishop Fernand Cheri. Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
