Vincent John Campanella

He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Meredith Knower, their children, Vincent Campanella Jr. (Carol Price) and Catherine Campanella (Michael Azzarello), grandchildren, Meredith Brayden, Andrew Azzarello, Robert Campanella, and John Campanella as well as his great-grandchildren, Lily and John “Jack” Brayden. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher, his parents, and siblings, Rita Giordano, Daisy Ruffin, and Minter Campanella.

Vince was an alumnus of Jesuit High School and Loyola University as well as a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served as Drill Sergeant at Fort Ord, California. He was a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) with Metropolitan Life insurance Company where he was a member of the New Orleans Association of Life Underwriters, the Century Club, the Honor Club, and recipient of the Outstanding Veterans Award in 1986. After retiring from Metropolitan, VJ worked as an instructor for A.D.Banker & Company (Insurance and Securities Licensing).

VJ was president of the Hayne Boulevard Camp Owners Association, Westgate Bowling League and St. Lawrence Men's Club having also co-chaired (with Meredith) the St. Lawrence Seafood Festival. He loved to sing, watch classic movies, annually visit Manresa Retreat House, and boil seafood for family and friends at his camp in Little Woods

A memorial service will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Visitation will be held from 11AM – 12PM with a Mass to begin at 12PM. Inurnment will be private.
