Wanda Rabalais Theobold passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025 at the age of 81, with her brother and sister by her side. She was born on November 2, 1943 in New Orleans, lived much of her life in Chalmette, and was a current resident of Jefferson.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Julius Theobold, parents, Gladys and Stafford Rabalais, and her special pet, ChiChi the chihuahua.
She is survived by her siblings, Eileen Rosenplanter and Leon Rabalais (Cristie) and her nieces and nephews, to whom she was affectionately known as “Nanny”, Darin Rosenplanter, Chris Rosenplanter, Nancy DeTrana (Dewayne Searcy), and Jamie Mitchell (Philip). She is also survived by her treasured great-nieces and nephews, Erin and Patton Mitchell and Elizabeth and Eleanor DeTrana.
Wanda had a heart of gold, never was heard to say an unkind word about anyone, and was an all-around precious person. She will always be remembered for her beautiful crochet work, her dedication to her faith and church, and her fierce love for her family. She could be heard cheering on the Saints over the years and even attended games during their inaugural season in New Orleans. She will be greatly missed but we have comfort knowing she is rejoicing in heaven.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday, January 13, 2025 at St. Agnes Church, 3310 Jefferson Hwy. Jefferson, LA. Visitation will be held from 10 AM – 12 PM, with a funeral Mass to begin at 12 PM. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
