Wanema “Nema” Rhodes, age 81, passed on Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Beloved wife of Joseph Lee Rhodes III for the past 32 years. Mother of Michelle Weiss (husband, Ben Shank), Kathie Weiss Colley (fiancé, Walter J. Leger, Jr.) and Bud Weiss (wife, Diane Weiss). Grandmother of Trey Weiss and Danielle Mollere. Stepmother of Joseph Lee Rhodes IV (wife, Marta Escobar Rhodes) and Robert Ary Rhodes (wife, Fe Contreras Rhodes). Step grandmother of Joseph Lee Rhodes V, Victoria Anne Rhodes and Jessica Rhodes. Step great grandmother of Romeo Robert Rhodes. Sister of Dana Chapman. Sister-in-law of Donnie Rhodes (wife, Diane Rhodes) and the late Chiggy Rhodes. Aunt of Matthew Chapman, James Chapman and Catherine Rhodes. Daughter of the late Holt Smith and Wilma Beaver Smith. Mrs. Rhodes was retired with the Jefferson Parish School System and was a longtime resident of Metairie, LA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Saturday afternoon, November 13, 2010 beginning at 1:00 PM with a memorial service to follow at 2:30 PM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel.
