

William “Bill” Jules Crumb, Sr., passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at the age of 83. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was born on August 20, 1938 in the Irish Channel of New Orleans.
William is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Lynn Blanchard Crumb. He had four wonderful sons, Bill (Dana), Dan (Janet), Jason (the late Kerri) and Jonathan. William had eight precious grandchildren, Caroline, Catherine, Jason Jr., Claire, Patrick, Garrett, Ally and Will.
William was an athletic enthusiast. He played football for Redemptorist High School in New Orleans. He was also a body builder claiming the title Mr. New Orleans and Mr. Louisiana, among the many other titles he claimed during his competitive years. Bill owned and operated Gretna Fitness Center for 5 years.
William served in the United States Air Force upon leaving high school.
He was an insurance executive for 10 years, where he also won the Distinguished Salesman’s Award in 1966 from Louisiana & Southern Life Insurance Company.
He then became a concert promoter, which eventually led to starting his own children’s theater business in 1969 called the Project Educational Theater. He produced and directed live theater based on children’s classic novels with emphasis on moral values. He toured through seven states for 50 years. Project Educational Theater was the oldest children’s theater touring company in the country.
Visitation will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Parkway in Metairie, LA, on Saturday, March 5, 2022 beginning at 11am, with prayers in the parlor to follow at 1pm. The online guestbook is now available at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com.
