William "Billy" H. Youngblood

William H. (Billy) Youngblood, age 82 years, of Covington and Metairie, LA, passed away on April 24, 2023. He was born in New Orleans on March 27, 1941, to the late Percy H. and Anna Mercante Youngblood. He is predeceased by his sister, Beryl Y. Carbon. He is survived by his loving wife of 62-1/2 years, JoAnn Larrieu Youngblood, son Damien Youngblood, daughter Jessica Youngblood Bullock (grandsons Michael Hubbard and Nicholas Hubbard), sister, Mary Youngblood and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, their spouses and their children.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Lt. from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office after 33 years of service, receiving numerous commendations and awards. He excelled in investigation and worked in several departments, including homicide, where he spent 10 years. To his close friends there, he was known as “Blood”.

After his retirement, he worked for BP on the oil spill handling numerous fraud cases. He was a regular “diamond” blood donor for over 20 years, often being called in to donate plasma. He was interested in gardening and took several classes from Delgado Community College. He was an avid fisherman enjoying that sport with his son and friends. He was also a lifelong coin collector. He loved people and could never have too many friends. He would never refuse a request for help from a relative or friend. Every July, he attended the Manresa House of Retreats, recruiting more friends to join him each year.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation and memorial service at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006, on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. Visitation begins at 11:00 am with the Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m.
