Alba Emilia Lopez

Alba Emilia López, of SunnyIsles Beach Florida, died the morning of July 8, 2023 at the age of 92 in Chula Vista, California at Sharp Chula Vista. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's dementia in 2013 and battled her disease with grace, courage and dignity. She was enrolled in an observational study in which individuals are observed and their outcomes measured by research investigators at the Shiley Marcos Alzheimer's Research Center at the University of California at San Diego.

She was born on May 23, 1931 in Sagua La Grande, Cuba; the second child and first daughter of Maria Pons and Santiago Llerena. She immigrated to New York City at the age of twenty eight where she met her husband of 57 years, Carlos Lopez. She worked for over thirty years as a professional sample maker at Donnkenny Inc, in New York's garment district from which she eventually retired.

Her interests included family, sewing, reading the Bible, cooking healthy food and exercising.

She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to her mother and sister Edith as well as assisting in raising her granddaughters Kaylee and Aubrey.

Preceded in death by her parents, Maria Pons and Santiago Llerena, brother Santiago Llerena, sisters Edith Llerena and Milagros Perruc, brother -in- law Jorge Perruc and David Toledo, and niece Angela Solano. She is survived by her husband Carlos López, her only daughter Dr. Sandra López, son-in-law Ivan Arvizo RN; granddaughters Kaylee Dundee and Aubrey Arvizo, sisters Hilia Garcia, Livia Toledo, brother Rafael Llerena and wife Ysabel Llerena, cousin Sylvia Agudelo and husband Pedro Agudelo along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation for Alba will be held Friday, August 18, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at 9547 - Caballero Rivero Woodlawn South, 11655 SW 117TH AVE, MIAMI, FL 33186. A service will be held at the Chapel at 12:15pm followed by a graveside service on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at 9547 - Caballero Rivero Woodlawn South.
