

Office of Commissioner Rebeca Sosa Passing of Mr. Armando Sosa It is with deep sadness that we lament to communicate that, Mr. Armando Sosa, Commissioner Rebeca Sosa’s beloved husband, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at their West Miami home surrounded by his loved ones. “During this most difficult time of mourning, my children join me in thanking the community for the overwhelming display of support throughout my beloved husband’s illness,” expressed Commissioner Sosa on behalf of the entire Sosa family adding that, “Armando’s death leaves us in the painful absence of an exemplary husband; the patriarch who faithfully supported our family during my battle with cancer; and the dedicated father who raised exemplary children, inspiring them to pursue their dreams and encouraging them to achieve their higher education goals.” Mr. Sosa was born to Luis and Julia Maria on April 11, 1938, in Cardenas, Cuba. He arrived to the United States in 1956 and later established himself in Puerto Rico where he met and married his wife, Rebeca Sosa, in 1976. Commissioner Sosa shared, “I will eternally carry in my heart the treasured memories of the special moments Armando and I shared over our 40 years of married life.” Mr. Sosa is survived by his wife Rebeca and their two children Armando, Jr. and Veronica, his daughter Vivian, his son-in-law Maikel, his daughter-in-law Janice, and his grandchildren Alexander, Nicole, and Samantha. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017, from 5:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn Funeral Home, 8200 Bird Road, Miami, Florida 33155 followed by a mass on Friday, May 12, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at the Church of the Little Flower, 2711 Indian Mound Trail, Coral Gables, Florida 33134. “The thoughtful outpouring of prayers from throughout the community and beyond has indeed been a source of comfort as we cope with the great sadness brought upon by his death,” concluded Commissioner Sosa.
