

Aurelio Antonio Ortiz Sr., MD, born on January 18, 1943, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 17, 2026, at 3:30 a.m. at the age of 83, surrounded by the love of his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, physician, and friend whose life was defined by resilience, compassion, and service.
Born in Cuba, Dr. Ortiz came to the United States at a very young age. Through determination, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to his dreams, he achieved his lifelong goal of becoming a physician, an accomplishment that reflected both his strength of character and deep desire to help others.
Dr. Ortiz is survived by his beloved wife, Sonia, and his children, Stephan, Aurelio Jr., Maria, Sonia, and Isabel. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Antonio, Andres, Alexander, Gabriela, Madison, and Jake, who brought him immense pride and joy.
For many years, Dr. Ortiz served the Miami community as an emergency room physician. He dedicated his career to caring for others in their most critical moments, earning the respect and gratitude of colleagues, patients, and families alike. His calm presence, clinical skill, and compassion made a lasting impact on countless lives.
He was a man of culture, captivated by the records of Elvis Presley and the iconic films of the 1960s. A lifelong student with a deep curiosity and love of the sciences and history. Outside of medicine, Dr. Ortiz embraced life fully. He had a passion for tennis and squash, as well as playing chess, enjoying both the competition and the friendships these pursuits brought. He also loved to travel, creating lasting memories with his family and exploring the world with curiosity and enthusiasm.
Above all, Dr. Ortiz will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his generosity of spirit, and the example he set through perseverance, humility, and purpose.
His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the family he loved so deeply, and the community he served with dedication and heart.

Visitation will be held at Caballero Rivero Westchester, 8200 Bird Road, Miami, FL 33155, on April 24, 2026, from 8:30 am to 10:00 am.
A Committal Service will take place at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn North, 3260 SW 8th Street, Miami, Florida 33186, on April 24, 2026, at 10:30 am.
