April 10, 1942 – November 3, 2025
Bertha Manzano, affectionately known as Abuela Cuca, passed away peacefully at her home in Miami, Florida, on November 3, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 83 years old.
Born on April 10, 1942, in Sagua la Grande, Cuba, Bertha came to the United States at the age of 19, beginning a new life in Miami before later moving to New Jersey with her beloved husband, the late Juan Manzano. It was there that they welcomed their two children, Anthony and Betty. In 1968, the family returned to Miami, where Bertha would spend the rest of her life surrounded by the warmth of family and friends.
Bertha was a woman of boundless generosity and compassion. She always saw the good in people and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She had a giving heart and was known for “saving things for others” — always thinking of who might need them more.
A gifted cook, seamstress, and hairdresser, Bertha had a creative spirit and a talent for making everything she touched more beautiful. Her delicious meals brought family and friends together, and her creativity shined through her love for designing clothes and crafting. She and Juan shared a love for travel, especially their memorable cruises together.
Bertha is survived by her loving children, Anthony Manzano and Betty Ramirez; her beloved daughter-in-law, Betty Manzano; her cherished grandchildren, Sophia Ramirez, Jake Manzano and Stephanie Ramirez; and her brother, Eduardo Castillo. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Juan Manzano.
Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
