

Delia was born in Ponce, PR and was a graduate of Washington, D.C. Teachers College where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in education and later obtained a Master’s Degree from Universidad de Puerto Rico.
For over 30 years, she was a proud and accomplished school teacher, having worked in a variety of schools in Puerto Rico, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Florida. She loved music, traveling, and reading, but her true passion was her family, always planning family get-togethers. She was an avid collector of family photos and proudly displayed them throughout her home. Delia never forgot a birthday or an anniversary. You could always expect a phone call or a card in the mail offering her best wishes. She always looked out for others, including her final day when she provided words of encouragement and compassion to a fellow patient that was terminally ill.
Delia is survived by her loving and adoring husband of 60 years, Ruben Sr., her children Melvin and his wife Ulda, Ruben Jr. and his wife Gloria, Ismael, David and his wife Marian, and her precious daughter Ivelisse and her husband Francis, her sisters Iris Ortiz, Irma Cruz, Norma Tirado, her brother Pedro Tirado, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Martinez was preceded in death by her parents Ismael and Lola Tirado.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 1, at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn Home, 11655 SW 117th Ave., Miami, FL 33186 from 10:00am-2:30pm followed by internment at 3:00pm.
