Eric Price Allred, 48, of Miami, FL, passed away unexpectedly on August 29, 2022. Eric’s family is deeply shocked and saddened by his untimely passing.
Eric was born on July 1, 1974, to Jeffry Alma Allred and Silvia Henriquez Allred in San José, Costa Rica. As a child, Eric would occasionally get into mischief but could charm his way out of trouble with his big grin. The family moved to Chile when Eric was eight. Following another move, he completed high school at Escuela Lincoln in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He attended college in Provo, Utah, at Brigham Young University where he studied Economics and International Relations. He remained an avid and committed Cougar fan throughout his life. During that time, he also served a voluntary mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Maracaibo, Venezuela. This experience connected him deeply to the people of Venezuela. Following his mission and college graduation, he worked in finance management at the Ford Motor Company and also completed an MBA at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. Eric went on to work for many multinational corporations and particularly enjoyed serving Latin American markets.
Eric was always very interested in world affairs and had a special interest in Cuba. This passion led him to travel there and film a short documentary called Cuba Escondida, published in 2009. He described the documentary as exposing the truth behind the myth of the “worker’s paradise” in Cuba imposed by Fidel Castro
Anyone who knew Eric, knew that he was vibrant, always the life of the party and could hold a lively conversation with anyone. He learned to dance and made sure to do it as often as possible. He could spend an hour describing the craftsmanship of an Italian shoe or of a child’s painting - he saw the value in both works. On Eric’s last birthday, his daughters gathered at his home to celebrate. They had made his favorite meal and it was getting late. Everyone was hungry. Nevertheless, Eric insisted on having his “Grand Birthday Entrance” filmed. He exited the bedroom holding a birthday balloon as a scepter and wearing his birthday brooch all the way to the dinner table.
Above all of his life’s work, Eric adored his daughters. He regaled them with his jokes, stories and life consejos, proud to help raise them bilingual and bicultural. One day, Eric was at Legoland with the three girls. They were waiting in a long line to ride a roller coaster when Camila got thirsty. Eric left the line to find her a cold drink and when he returned the girls had already been on the ride! Camila was in tears, because she and Valentina had felt scared on the ride without him. Eric immediately got back in the long line for a redo. While they waited, Camila got hiccups and they tried many tactics to get rid of them. Eric even held Camila by her feet and bounced her up and down. Eric’s love and all that laughter were just what the younger girls needed to brave the roller coaster again.
Eric is survived by an extended loving family: his parents, Jeff and Silvia Allred, his daughters, Valeria, 17, Camila, 15, their mother, Liliana Torrado Obregon, to whom he was married for many years, and his daughter Alison Valentina, 11, and her mother, Alixon Lorena Gutierrez Huila, with whom he co-parented. Seven siblings miss him as well: Albert Allred, Norma Guariglia, Marjorie Holt, Rebecca Clyde, Karla Alvord, Tiffanie Nicolia, and Kimberly Beck.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Eric can be made to a fund that will help provide support for his surviving daughters.
There will be a funeral service on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 1 P.M. Caballero Rivero Woodlawn South and Woodlawn Park Cemetery, 11655 SW 117TH Ave, Miami, FL. If you cannot attend the service in person, please consider joining a livestream. The link along with other details are available at https://everloved.com/life-of/eric-allred/.
