Frank D Salas

Frank David Salas, 98, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, in Miami, Florida.

Born on September 20, 1927, in Havana, Cuba, Frank lived a life marked by faith, family, professional achievement, and perseverance.

He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Havana. In 1960, he and his family left Cuba and settled in Nutley, New Jersey, where they built a new life and lived for 15 years. In 1975, the family moved to Miami, Florida, where Frank made his permanent home.

During his distinguished engineering career, Frank worked for the George A. Fuller Company and contributed to numerous significant construction projects, including the Zaza River Bridge in Cuba, high-rise buildings in New York City, and major projects throughout Latin America. He took great pride in his profession and remained an engineer at heart throughout his life.

Frank was a devoted Catholic whose faith was the foundation of his life. He was a lifelong member of the Agrupación Católica Universitaria (ACU), where he formed enduring friendships and helped form generations of Catholic leaders. He was passionate about education, athletics, and family, encouraging young people to pursue excellence in both academics and sports.

Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Lucia Sabi Salas, who passed away in 2018, and by his son, Raul Salas, who passed away in 2019.

He is survived by his children, Frank, Albert, Jimmy, Joe, Lucy, and Mary; his sister, Helen Salas; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and his extended family and many dear friends.

Frank will be remembered for his unwavering faith, strong character, disciplined work ethic, and deep love for his family. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the faith he shared, the minds he helped shape, and the enduring structures he helped build.
