Gloria (Calderon) Ramos, 87, a longtime resident of West Miami, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, with her loving children at her side. Born in 1932, and raised in Santiago, Cuba, Gloria graduated from La Escuela Normal para Maestros de Oriente in Santiago, and subsequently taught zoology at the high school level. Gloria immigrated to the United States in 1960 and, later that year, married the late Jose Antonio Ramos, her husband of 58 years, with whom she raised three amazing children. Gloria later went on to serve as Assistant Registrar at Miami Edison Senior High School. Her true enjoyment, however, was in being matriarch of the Ramos Family, hosting frequent family gatherings, dispensing words of wisdom and encouragement to all on a daily basis, and doting on her sweet, smart, and very funny 2-year old grandson. She was also an avid baker and gardener. Gloria is survived by her son Jose Antonio Ramos, Jr. (wife Suzanne Romajas) (son Nicholas) of Washington, DC; her son David Ramos (wife Christina Hampton) of Hollywood, FL; and her daughter Gloria Ramos of Pasadena, CA. She is also survived by her loving sisters Isa Calderon and Celia Martinez of Miami, FL.
The viewing for Mrs. Ramos will be held Sunday, April 14, 2019 from 6:30 PM to 11:00 PM at Caballero Rivero Westchester, 8200 Bird Rd., Miami, FL 33155. A committal service will occur Monday, April 15, 2019 starting at 12:00 PM at Miami Memorial Park, 6200 SW 77 AVE, Miami, FL 33143.
