Haydee Teresita De La Rosa, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on June 17, 2023, at the age of 83 in Coral Gables, Florida. Born on September 7, 1939, in Santiago de Cuba, she was the daughter of Dr. Roberto A. Giro and Annette V. Rumeau.
During the first two decades of her life, Haydee resided in Santiago de Cuba, where she graduated from the School of the Sacred Heart. In 1961, she married, Rafael “Felo” De La Rosa, in New York City. Together, they raised two children, Haydee Ann and Rose Marie, before eventually relocating to Miami, Florida. Later, their family was completed with the addition of two more children, Elizabeth and Ralph.
Haydee dedicated many years of her life to working as a medical assistant, collaborating with some of the finest dermatologists in her field. However, her true joy came in her later years when she became a devoted grandmother, actively participating in the upbringing of her twelve beloved grandchildren.
She will forever be remembered as a loving mother to Haydee Ann (Anthony Tolgyesi), Rose Marie (David Fernandez), Elizabeth (Luis Palenzuela), and Ralph (Maria Alzola). Haydee is also survived by her cherished sister Magdalena "Poupee" Gavarrete (Rafael Gavarrete), as well as sisters-in-law Dolores "Loly" Mercade Giro, Marta Vazquez De La Rosa and Magdalena "Mingthoy" Bernal Giro. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Rafael, and her two brothers, Roberto and Raul Giro. Additionally, she leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Nicholas Fernandez (Katherine Martinez), Michelle Fernandez, Joseph Tolgyesi, Sophia Fernandez, Natalia Fernandez, Karina De La Rosa, Anabelle Tolgyesi, Teresa De La Rosa, Meagan Tolgyesi, Elise Palenzuela, Luis Palenzuela, and Isabella De La Rosa, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 11:00 pm on Wednesday, June 21st, 2023, at Caballero Rivero Westchester Funeral Home (8200 Bird Road, Miami, FL), where family and friends will have the opportunity to pay their respects and honor Haydee's memory.
Haydee Teresita De La Rosa will forever be remembered for her unwavering love, compassion, and devotion to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate to have known her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
